Educational Liberation for Black Families Nationwide
HomeSkool is a growing network of Black families choosing academic excellence and cultural pride through community-supported homeschooling. Founded in 2022, we're expanding to 8+ major cities with a proven 3+ year track record of success.
About the HomeSkool Movement
Our Story
HomeSkool began in Hayward, CA when one family proved Black children could receive world-class education while celebrating their identity. Three years later, our founders' sons are thriving academically and culturally—and we're ready to scale this success nationwide.
Community-Centered
Families supporting families through shared resources and collective wisdom
Culturally Affirming
Black history and African heritage integrated throughout all curriculum
Academically Rigorous
Meeting and exceeding traditional school standards while building critical thinking
In the face of attacks on Black history curriculum and systems that don't affirm our children's identity, HomeSkool provides a proven alternative that works—creating shared resources, mutual support, and community resilience.
Proof It Works
The NUA Success Story
Our founding family has homeschooled two boys for three years through Nguzo Uhuru Academy (NUA), a California registered private school. Their results demonstrate what's possible when education celebrates both excellence and identity.
Academic Excellence
Both sons consistently exceed grade-level expectations across all core subjects, with advanced problem-solving skills
Cultural Pride
Deep knowledge of Black history and African contributions, with confident racial identity and heritage connection
Real-World Readiness
Leadership skills, technology literacy, financial management understanding, and communication confidence
If one family can achieve these results, imagine what an entire community can accomplish together. See their full story at nua.school
